History of 24 Mill Street
For those interested in architectural history the following is the entry for 24/25/26 Mill Street (which alll share the same entrance) from the 14th List of Buildings of Special Architectural or Historic Interest, p258 published by the Department of National Heritage (1993)
Houses. C1740. Brick; plain tile roof; brick end stacks to rear. 3-unit plan. 2-storeys, attic and cellar; 3-window range: to left, 3-light window with central metal casement, under segmental arch; central 2-light casement, under segmental arch; to right; central 2-light casement, under segmental arch; to right, 3- light casement, interrupting storey band; 3 early C20 gable dormers with casements. Central plank door in chamfered and moulded doorcase, in altered opening; to left, 4-light window with metal glazing bars and casement, under segmental arch; to right, blocked opening, and 4-light window with moulded oak case. Ground floor room to right has blocked corner fireplace and exposed ceiling beams; ground floor room to left has exposed spine- beam. Central passage has exposed box framing and ceiling beams; plank doors, to left in moulded case. Rear has wood mullion windows, partly blocked with brick, 2-light casement, with C20 twin casement over, in altered opening; C18, 3-light metal window to right; outshut to left linking to No. 25, which has C17 box framing with brick nogging on edge to 1st floor, over C18 brickwork; C20, 2-light casement to first floor; C20 door to right and C19, 2-light casement to left. Brick stack to corner. Left return of rubble with brick gable; various lights and blocked openings
